The BOSCH Planer (Tool Only) (PLH181BL) is great for fast stock removal and leaves a smooth finish.

Cutting

The planer was built for optimized performance with fast cutting speed and long battery run time optimized for main planing applications.

It comes with a high-performance four-pole motor for fast stock removal and a smooth finish.

There is an edge-guide fence that ensures consistent planning through entire work piece, and it can be mounted on either side of tool with a protective shield that covers section of blade when not in use.

The ratcheting depth knob allows fool-proof setting of depth increments from 0 to 1/16" (1.5 mm) within one revolution, eliminating the need to re-zero the depth.

Its electronically counterbalanced single-blade system automatically positions the blade at the ideal cutting angle, so it reduces drag and enables faster operation for the smoothest cutting.

This planer is equipped with the Bosch Woodrazor® micrograin carbide blade that resists fractures from nail and staple strikes and provides superior lifetime versus standard carbide blades.

Build

The front of the planer is made of aluminum and rear shoes were machined after assembly to ensure accuracy.

There is a chip-ejection switch that directs shavings to the left or right.

The ambidextrous lock-off release button helps avoid accidental start up.

Motor & Batteries

The planer is built with Electronic Motor Protection (EMP) and Electronic Cell Protection (ECP), which protects the motor against overload, overheating, and deep discharge while ensuring a long lifetime.

The Bosch FatPack Batteries (sold separately) feature CoolPack™ with a special heat-conductive housing and ribbing that cools them by drawing out heat out, which provides battery life of up to 100% over lithium-ion batteries without CoolPack™.
